Kam Mercer is coming back to Cincinnati.
ESPN's No. 5 player in the 2028 class announced on Dec. 11 that he would be withdrawing from Overtime Elite and enrolling at Princeton High School, as first reported by ESPN's Paul Biancardi. Mercer, a 6-foot-5 wing player, is a Cincinnati native.
Princeton, which started the year with a win over North College Hill and loss to Mason, will welcome the five-star Mercer with open arms as he infuses the team with another offensive threat. In his last game with RWE on Dec. 10, Mercer scored 14 points on 7-for-11 shooting while adding five assists and five rebounds. Princeton is coming off a Greater Miami Conference title in the 2024-2025 season.
It is not clear when exactly Mercer will first suit up for the Vikings, but he will be immediately eligible based on OHSAA regulations.
Mercer was enrolled at Winton Woods Middle School for one season before transferring to Huntington Prep (WV) as a freshman. The move was coupled with Mercer joining EZ Sports Group, a name, image and likeness agency. After one year at Huntington Prep, Mercer joined RWE in Georgia but withdrew after only eight games He was teammates with former Newport star Taylen Kinney on RWE.
Mercer has already received interest from several NCAA Division I schools. His eight high-major offers include Ohio State, Cincinnati and Louisville.
