St. John remained dominant last week in high school baseball action as the season shifts into district fare and hopes of a solid playoff berth.

The Eagles closed last week with a 14-4 win over Liberty Magnet (formerly Lee High).

SJHS improved to 14-9 overall and 2-0 in District 8-1A. St. John first baseman Landon Daigle led with three RBIs, while Eagle shortstop Tyler Edwards notched a triple and two RBIs. Both went 2-for-4.

Cy Crowson (2-for-3) had two runs and two RBIs.

SJHS yielded the visiting Patriots a 2-0 lead in the opening inning but responded with five runs in the bottom of the frame and another eight in the second. The Eagles stretched their lead in the bottom of the second when a Daigle single to center drove in two more runs.

Winning pitcher Gavin Hebert struck out eight and walked five.

At North Iberville, St. John scored seven runs in the second inning and eight in the third after taking a 4-1 lead in the opening frame.

Edwards, Daigle and Tripp Romero combined their efforts at the mound for the win. Edwards struck out two Bears, while Daigle and Romero each sent back one apiece.

Third baseman Torey Downs scored the lone run for the Bears.

Against White Castle, SJHS piled 21 runs in the first inning for a victory that ended at the end of two.

Daigle drove in four runs on two hits to propel the Eagle victory. He scored two runs off a single in the first and knocked in a run on a double later in the frame.
