The San Antonio Spurs are working hard to try to upend the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

But through three games of the Western Conference Finals, OKC holds a 2-1 series lead on the Spurs.

For San Antonio to turn things around, there's actually a subtle area where they may need to put a big focus: Luke Kornet.

The backup center has the difficult task of filling in for Victor Wembanyama. Clearly, he's not Wemby.

Still, Kornet has done quality things during his NBA career. He's a good rim defender and has some offensive skill.

In this series, though, he's getting crushed. As soon as Kornet takes the floor, the Thunder go on a run:

These Luke Kornet for Wemby minutes may decide this series.

Game 1: 9 minutes, -9
Game 2: 10 minutes, -10
Game 3: 6 minutes, -18 (!)

The Spurs ironically have a bunch of other centers on their bench -- Kelly Olynyk, Bismack Biyombo and Mason Plumlee. But despite that roster construction, those guys aren't going to take over Kornet's minutes.

The best hope may be to go small, let Keldon Johnson get a few minutes at the 5, and get Wemby back in the game as soon as possible.

Other than that, the Spurs simply have to count on Kornet to figure things out. He's been in the league for a long time and should have some self-adjustments he can find to make things a bit better.

Through three games, though, it's clear that the Thunder have solved their actions with Kornet on the floor and Wembanyama on the bench.
