Francesca Lollobrigida showed what it's like to balance being a gold medalist with being a mom after winning big at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The Italian speed skater, 35, secured a victory in the 3,000-meter race on Saturday, Feb. 7, which also happened to be her birthday.
After collecting her medal, Lollobrigida celebrated her 2-year-old son Tommaso, posing for photos with him and bringing him along to speak to the press.

During an on-camera interview, Tomasso displayed some typical toddler behavior that has since gone viral. As his mom spoke to the media, the child played with her gold medal, which was around his neck.
He also reached out and grabbed his mom's face, seemingly shushing her, before also attempting to grab the microphone.
Lollobrigida continued speaking, even as Tomasso snatched her hat and continued his playful behavior. A video of the moment amassed more than 3.5 million views on X.
“It’s not that easy to combine being a skater and a mom," the Olympic speed skater said in the interview of balancing her career with family life, per The Athletic.
“This (medal) is for myself, the people who believed in me, and the people who said, ‘Maybe she can’t do it, you know?’ They gave me the power to prove myself,” she added.
The athlete added that she wanted to show people that she "didn't choose between a family, being a mom (and being a speed skater)."

“I stopped [competing] right after my medals [a silver and a bronze] in Beijing. I was really on top of the world, you know? I was brave, so I’m really proud of myself," she said, referencing the medals that she won while competing in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
Lollobrigida stepped away from skating for a few months after welcoming Tomasso, according to The Athletic. However, Lollobrigida was back on skates six months after giving birth and was already medaling in the European Championships by January 2024.
