Spanish King Felipe VI has congratulated the national team for reaching the World Cup final and also called coach Luis de La Fuente shortly after the 2-0 semi-final triumph over France.
Spain is in the final! You've once again proven why you're one of the world's great teams. Now, with an entire country by your side, the moment has come to fight for the title," the royal palace posted on X on Tuesday night.
"Thank you for making us enjoy this journey. Go for it."
A video showed Felipe, queen Letizia and their daughters watch the watch on TV and celebrate the win, all wearing national team shirts.
De La Fuente said after the match in Arlington, Texas, that Felipe called to congratulate and wish them well for Sunday's final against Argentina or England.
"It makes us proud that our king has called and that we could provide such a joy for the people in the streets," De la Fuente said.
The French team was meanwhile consoled by the nation's president, Emmanuel Macron, after the defeat on Bastille Day.
"Bravo to Spain for this qualification. Thank you to the Bleus for carrying our colors with commitment. Tonight's defeat is hard to take, but this team is young and full of promise," Macron said on X.
