The Georgia Bulldogs have landed a commitment from South Carolina Gamecockstransfer pitcher Riley Goodman. The righty struggled with the Gamecocks in 2026, but Goodman will now look to bounce back in Athens next season following the announcement.
Goodman held a 8.59 ERA across 22 total innings in 2026. The former South Carolina right-handed pitcher recorded 25 strikeouts last year, as Goodman has flashed potential on a handful of occasions despite his struggles last season. Goodman spent two total seasons at South Carolina and was unable to make a true impact on the Gamecocks’ pitching staff, and his time in Columbia has now come to an end.
Goodman was widely regarded as one of the top overall pitchers on South Carolina’s roster entering the 2026 season. The flamethrower was named the Gamecocks’ starting pitcher on Opening Day, and seven of his 12 total appearances at South Carolina came as a starter. Goodman is an extremely talented pitcher despite his struggles in 2026, and the righty may emerge with a critical role throughout his time at Georgia in 2027.
Goodman is the 12th player out of the transfer portal that has committed to Georgia baseball during the offseason. Georgia recently landed a commitment from former Florida State star Hunter Carns, while Utah outfielder Jet Gilliam has committed to UGA as well.
