Florida State Seminoles catcher Hunter Carns has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs. Carns couldl prove to be a massive addition to the Dawgs’ lineup next year.

Carns was regarded as one of the top available catchers in the transfer portal prior to his UGA commitment. The talented junior will have some serious shoes to fill throughout his first year in Athens, as Carns will serve as the replacement for superstar catcher Daniel Jackson, who was an All-American and the national player of the year. Carns ended his final season at FSU with six home runs and a .303 batting average.

Carns will join the Bulldogs with two years of eligibility remaining. The catcher appeared in 51 of the Seminoles’ 59 games in 2026, as Carns has thrived on offense and defense throughout his tenure at FSU. The Seminoles’ pitching staff recorded a 3.95 ERA with Carns behind the plate last year, and the catcher was credited with an impressive .989 fielding percentage as well. He helped FSU make the NCAA Tournament.

Georgia has lost a handful of key talent to the transfer portal following the conclusion of the College World Series. The Dawgs have added some major reinforcements, however, as former WCC player of the year Mikey Bell recently announced his commitment to Georgia baseball.
