While looking ahead to TCU's 2026 season, Sonny Dykes recently took a jab at former Horned Frogs quarterback Josh Hoover.

In an interview with Frogs Today, Dykes broke down what it was like to work with new offensive coordinator Gordon Sammis. As Dykes spoke on his desire to limit turnovers in the new year, he directed his attention toward Hoover's productivity.

"Numbers are numbers and stats are stats. You look, for us, I think Josh started 31 games here as a quarterback and he turned the ball over 42 times in those 31 starts," Dykes said.

The TCU head coach then compared that turnover figure to the one Sammis' quarterback posted at Connecticut last year. Dykes said Connecticut's Joe Fagnano turned the ball over twice. He finished the 2025 season with 28 passing touchdowns and one interception.

Dykes didn't mention that Hoover also threw for 71 passing touchdowns and 9.629 yards throughout his TCU stint. The Rockwall-Heath product transferred to Indiana this offseason after spending four years at TCU.

To replace Hoover, TCU landed former Harvard quarterback Jaden Craig in the transfer portal.

Dykes said he wants to see the Horned Frogs fix their turnover margin in the new campaign. He said he felt TCU turned the ball over "way too much" in the last three years.

"So we took some steps to address that and hopefully we can be a team that doesn't beat ourselves. And I think in college football now, the game has changed. Much like it has in the NFL," Dykes said. "Rule No. 1 is don't beat yourselves."
