Almost two months have passed since the tragic passing of two-time NASCAR champion Kyle Busch, his son, Brexton, has gotten back on top of the podium in the Restrictor Micro division.
On Friday July 17th, at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Brexton came from 14th place to the lead of the sprint car race.
Racing in a division for ages 9-16, 11-year-old Brexton is used to the victory lane. Last year, he won 48 competitions across multiple disciplines, and he’s continuing to follow in his father’s footsteps to the very top of motorsport.
Kyle Busch died from severe bacterial pneumonia that progressed into Sepsis. At just 41, his sudden passing shocked the sporting world.

Samantha Busch, mother of Brexton and widow to Kyle, shared a post to Instagram following the win.
She wrote: ““This is his very first win since Kyle’s passing. There was a lot of emotions to say the very least.
“Beyond proud of him not just for winning but all that he’s navigating at young age, beyond shattered Kyle isn’t here to be part of this, beyond grateful for all the support and amazing people we have around us.”
NASCAR is still reeling from the passing of a true legend of the sport. It would be somewhat of a comfort to see the Busch legacy carried forward by this talented young driver.
