Evil Ash
Henchman Supreme
Kent Somers was interviewed on ESPNews yesterday giving a preview to the season and speaking about what has gone on during the offseason. There was nothing really earth-shattering but I figured I should still pass it along.
- When asked about the QB controversy, Somers said that he fully expects Leinart to start in the season opener (sorry Warner fans) but he would have somewhat of a short leash if he struggled. When asked how short of a leash, Somers responded that if Leinart struggles, he expects him to be pulled after the first month of the season.
- The subject then switched to Q. Somers said that the Cards are still going with their original plan of extending him next offseason. The Cards expects him to quiet down once the season started. He also mentioned that Q is just the first in a long line of players unhappy with their contract (he didn't name names but we know who they are)
- The subject of injuries came up. Somers said that the Cards have had good luck avoiding the major injuires with exception of Watson who they expect to be ready for the regular season.
- When asked about the offseason if "everything went their way," Somers said that he had the Cards going 10-6. He admitted that is unusual for him since he is typically pessimistic regarding the Cardinals' chances. However he said that this was easily the most talented team he has covered.
