Self-inflicted errors and lack of pitching depth led to a 12-11 defeat against the Oklahoma Sooners on Sunday afternoon, as the Aggies dropped to 16-3 (1-2 in SEC).

With limited arms in the pitching rotation, especially after losing right-hander Josh Stewart to an apparent injury in Game 1, Texas A&M still managed to keep the series competitive against the Sooners. The Aggies outscored the Sooners 26-25 in the series, but Oklahoma's timely hitting was too much for Michael Earley's club to overcome in Game 3.

Center fielder Caden Sorrell and left fielder Jake Duer recorded some clutch hits for Texas A&M on Sunday, combining for eight hits, including two doubles, and eight RBI against an extremely talented Sooner pitching staff. Duer's two-out, three-RBI double in the eighth inning tied the game at 11 apiece, before Oklahoma drew a game-winning walk in the bottom of the eighth and prevented the Aggies from producing any more runs in the ninth.

Next up, Texas A&M will return to Bryan-College Station for a six-game home stretch beginning against Texas State on Tuesday. The Aggies' first SEC home series of the 2026 campaign is slated to begin at 6 p.m. CT on Friday against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Frustrating loss at Oklahoma this weekend

Frustrating series loss in Norman, feels like every single game was right there within reach. At the end of the day you’ll take a 1-2 result against a top 10 team on the road but we could’ve won this series several different times. SEC play is gonna be a grind

Tough outing from Texas A&M's pitching staff

A heartbreaking one for the Aggies. The pitching staff was a disaster from start to finish — and no matter how many times the offense clawed them back into it, the arms on the mound just couldn't give them a chance.

No. 22 Texas A&M: 11
No. 9 Oklahoma: 12
Final.

Much to look forward to for both teams after an extremely competitive series in Norman

Oklahoma survives an offensive afternoon, beating Texas A&M 12-11 to clinch their opening SEC series. This is a mighty impressive Sooner team that can beat you a number of ways.

Equally encouraging to see Texas A&M go 1-2 in Norman and continue to look very competitive.

Self-inflicted woes plagued the Aggies this weekend

This team is killing themselves to try to keep us in this game and this pitching staff just keeps pissing it away

Texas A&M will be looking for answers with a shortened bullpen moving forward

Texas A&M pitching was the best in the country at limiting free bases coming into the weekend. They issued 21 of those against OU - 10 coming in today’s 1 run loss.

Gotta find answers now with a shortened bullpen.

Offensive was good - scoring 27 against a talented OU staff. https://t.co/eRgAmJBjAE
