It's hard to argue that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams isn't one of the biggest faces of the NFL heading into his third season, especially now that he's locked down the Madden 27 cover.
Williams is coming off a breakout season in his first year with head coach Ben Johnson, where he established himself as one of the most clutch and exciting quarterbacks in the league. Williams led an NFL-record seven fourth-quarter comebacks, including a wild-card playoff win over the Green Bay Packers. He also set a franchise single-season passing record with 3,942, falling just shy of becoming the Bears' first 4,000-yard passer.
During an appearance on the "New Heights" podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, Williams learned that his initial Madden 27 rating is 90. And he had the perfect response, vowing by the "end of year, it'll be 99."
Madden ratings change throughout the course of the season, but 90 is a good place to start for the third-year quarterback. For comparison, last year, Williams debuted with an 85 grade in Madden 26.
There are high expectations for Williams heading into his second season with Johnson, as some even have him pegged as a MVP dark horse. But the young quarterback still has plenty to clean up in 2026, where it's all about perfecting the short passing game and bettering his completion percentage. If Williams can lock down the easy throws, coupled with his insane ability to escape and extend plays while creating in the downfield passing game, it'll make him one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the league.
