Skip Bayless, the sports talk-show commentator, decided to weigh in on the WNBA on Sunday.

He doesn't do that often, so it's a bit surprising to begin with, and it got weirder when he said that the Indiana Fever had fired head coach Stephanie White.

This was the original post on X by Skip:

No surprise: Stephanie White reportedly out after repeated in-game clashes with Caitlin Clark. Not saying White was wrong - but YOU CAN'T SHOW UP THE FACE OF THE LEAGUE ON CAMERA. Caitlin obviously wants a favorite of hers from Iowa, Jan Jensen. But no way Jensen can coach both.

White had been shown screaming at Caitlin Clark during a timeout in Saturday's 16-point loss at the Portland Fire. The coach appeared to be upset at Clark's defense, which statistically and anecdotally has left a lot to be desired this season.

The Fever haven't fired their head coach over this, though.

Bayless came back later to correct himself:

Now they're saying reports are erroneous about Stephanie White. But the point is, she won't last much longer clashing during games with CAITLIN CLARK ... even if her issues with Caitlin are mostly valid.

Reporters who cover the Fever had already come online to dispute the original Bayless claim:

For those that have seen Skip Bayless’ tweet about reports of Stephanie White being let go from the Fever: I’m told there is absolutely no validity to that report.

Stephanie White is still the head coach in Indiana.

It's probably true that White isn't going to make herself a ton of fans by screaming at Clark, but she's coaching, and that's how it looks sometimes.

Bayless, on the other hand, isn't helping anyone with egregious reports about the WNBA.
