The Philadelphia 76ers were hit with some shocking news on Saturday morning when the NBA announced that Paul George will be suspended for 25 games for violating the league's anti-drug policy. The 9-time All-Star was in the midst of a bounce back season with the Sixers, and this is a big blow to this group.
George is averaging 16.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 42.4% from the floor and 38.2% from deep in 27 games while providing some elite defense on the floor. He was providing a difference for Philadelphia on either end and it's a big blow to this group.
In the aftermath of the announcement of his suspension, George released a statement to ESPN. He explained the medication he took was for his mental health and he took full responsibility for his mistake.
With George now suspended for a lengthy amount of time, one has to wonder if this changes things for the Sixers at Thursday's trade deadline.
