August is pro-am season. NBA players will join pro-am tournaments around the country to get some runs in to stay in shape. One has to assume that Philadelphia 76ers assistant Rico Hines will open up UCLA's gym with the "Rico Hines Runs" soon where players from around the league will descend and face off against each other to get in shape and work on their craft.
As far as the pro-ams are concerned, one of the more popular ones in Philadelphia is the annual Rumph Classic which honors Danny Rumph who passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition in 2005. Some of the best hoopers in the city head to Drexel University to participate in the annual tournament and a new Sixers star pulled up to watch the action.
Jaylen Brown, who is certainly making the rounds in Philadelphia, pulled up to take in the action at the Rumph Classic.
The Sixers will head into the 2026-27 season with the expectation that they will be competing for a championship. The additions of Brown and LeBron James to join Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and VJ Edgecombe will give Philadelphia a fantastic shot at winning that elusive title.
