With the 2024-25 season officially in the books, now is the time to hear from the players. There are some who have a lot of opinions about the league and how things are ran and have thoughts on their peers.
The Athletic put together a series of questions and talked with players anonymously throughout the league on who's the most overrated player, who's the most underrated, the best and worst organizations, coaches, and thoughts on sports gambling and such. The anonymous poll can be seen here.
The Philadelphia 76ers were represented in the polls, but not in a great light. Sixers star Joel Embiid received 3.3% of votes as being one of the most overrated players in the league. Ultimately, Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton took home the "most overrated player in the league" title.
Sixers coach Nick Nurse also got votes for "worst coach in the league" as well. He received 6.8% of the votes, but there was one player who stuck up for Nurse in the polls:
It's incredibly hard to judge the Sixers on the 2024-25 season. Nurse is a very good coach who just got dealt a terrible hand because Embiid was limited to only 19 games while Paul George played 41 and Tyrese Maxey played 52. One has to believe that with a cleaner bill of health, then the Sixers will get back toward the top of the standings in the East.
Also, it's hard to call Embiid "overrated". Yes, he has yet to get past Round 2 of the playoffs and has dealt with injuries and such, but the big fella is one of the best offensive players the league has ever seen. Standing at 7-feet tall, he can score at all three levels and is turning into an elite passer while also being a terrific defender. It's hard to see the "overrated" tag for him.
