I personally think Jeff Van Gundy was the best fit for the Houston Rockets. Don't forget that he is reportedly looking for a salary averaging $7 million per season. I also read today that he said his chances of return to coaching are about 50/50.

The knock on Rick Carlisle and Detroit was that he had trouble getting along and relating to his players. So how is he going to handle that Portland Trail Blazers team?
