Fans of Hockey Canada have been holding their breath regarding the status of Sidney Crosby for the rest of the 2026 Winter Olympics. Unfortunately, Friday's latest update is not positive for the Pittsburgh Penguins star.

On Wednesday during the quarterfinal match against Czechia, Crosby left the game with an injury after taking a hit near the boards in the middle of the second period. The Canadian captain sat on the bench for a few moments in obvious pain before heading off to the locker room. Crosby never returned to Canada's dramatic 4-3 overtime win against Czechia and his status after the game was unknown to team head coach Jon Cooper.

A few days later, Canada announced that Crosby would be out for the team's semifinal game versus Finland on Friday with a lower-body injury.

Talk about a rough blow for Canada. According to some NHL reporters, Crosby's injury isn't looking like it'll be a long-term one, but it's unfortunate that it is keeping him out of Friday's semifinal game.
