The curious tale of Jadeveon Clowney continues. Rarely has he been better than in 2023 as a member of the Baltimore Ravens roster. He turned the clock back and tied a career high for sacks (9.5). Still, the decision was made to allow him to walk, and he spent the most recent NFL season with a Carolina Panthers team headquartered about a half-hour from his hometown of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Carolina is moving on. Clowney is again a free agent. He's gotten older. Regression seemingly set in last season, but it's easy to argue for and against a reunion.
When it's all said and done, Jadeveon Clowney might be remembered as one of the NFL's greatest mercenaries. He's definitely among the top five of the current era. A member of the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, he's seen five NFL locker rooms since being selected first overall in the 2014 NFL Draft and spending his first five seasons with the Houston Texans.
Clowney has always been a better run defender than a pass rusher, though he's more often than not been viewed as the latter. Four seasons in which he has accumulated nine sacks or more have helped that discussion continue, but he's coming off a season where he started all of his 14 in-game appearances but topped out at 5.5 QB takedowns.
The Ravens added Mike Green during the second round of the most recent selection meeting, and one might argue that makes a Clowney acquisition unnecessary. Still, with Baltimore's championship window seemingly open, one could state adding the 2016 Second-Team All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler might be a nice feather in the cap for a defense that finished in the top ten last season without him.

Would the Ravens entertain a reunion with the recently-released Jadeveon Clowney?
