In what was shaping up to be a feel-good moment in the league, former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool saw his NFL comeback dreams with the Packers dashed following a tryout with Green Bay. But the new-look Steelers could be another potential landing spot for Claypool.
The Steelers upgraded their wide receiver room in both the trade market and the 2026 NFL Draft, but Claypool would also be a solid depth addition if he can put together a strong tryout with Pittsburgh.
Claypool is still only 27 years old while offering both outside and slot versatility. He also was trending toward a huge bounce-back opportunity with the Buffalo Bills as a 2024 offseason standout before tearing a ligament and tendon in his toe.
Yes, there are character concerns and a lack of effort seen on film, particularly during his short stint with the Chicago Bears. But Claypool's upside should force the Steelers to at least offer him a tryout.
