Both can be true. If this was the only slop from today, I would agree with you, but it wasn't - so if you cut him but not any of the coaches, whats the point?

This same mistake was made by another player on another team. If the coaching staff wasn't reinforcing how not to fudge up, then its weak coaching in a game where weak coaching and stupidity like this cost the game.

If it WAS reinforced, then cut the player.

If you are also going to cut coaching, then cut the player.

But the poll is binary and I am guessing that our coaching is mediocre based on 3 years of situational football. So I default to "no" unless changes are made on the coaching side as well.

I don’t think they will, but this franchise needs a sense of urgency since day 1. Cutting him would be the first step towards it.
