With the All-Star break festivities set to kick off on July 13, Shohei Ohtani will make one more start on the mound.
Ohtani will make his next start this Friday in the series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium, according to Dave Roberts via the Blood Los Podcast.
"As I sit here right now, he [Ohtani] is still lined up for Friday," Roberts said.
Up until this point, there was still no definite answer on whether or not Ohtani was going to make two starts before the break. The possibility of Ohtani not making his second start was among the options following his premature exit from last Friday's contest against the San Diego Padres with tightness in his right bicep.
That issue seems to have been resolved and Ohtani looks to be a full go for his 15th start of the season.
"Nope, not a word," Roberts said on whether Ohtani has said anything about continued tightness in his biceps. "Catch-play is normal and I think he's going to go out there again today [Tuesday] to stretch it out a little bit. But yeah, from the training staff to Shohei, everything is where it needs to be."
Though it seems all is going in the direction of Ohtani starting on Friday, the Dodgers and Roberts are prepared to switch plans if need be.
"As he goes through the next couple days, if he doesn’t feel great, we’ll pivot, and we’re prepared to pivot," Roberts said.

As for the All-Star Game, Ohtani will play in it but will not toe the rubber in Philadelphia. That also goes for participating in the Home Run Derby.
"When you’re Shohei, he understands the responsibility he has,” Roberts said. “So I do think that there’s a middle for what’s best for him, with what potentially could be downside, but also what’s best for the game.
"So don’t see him in the Home Run Derby. Don’t see him pitching. But I do see him taking an at-bat or two."
With all of that put together, it was very unlikely from the jump that Ohtani would grace the cover of other parties who have announced their commitment to the Midsummer Classic affairs.
