Ben Shelton rallied to beat Fransico Cerundolo 2-6, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 on Saturday to reach the final of the BMW Open.

The second seeded American Shelton prevailed after 2 hours 7 minutes in Munich in a hard-fought contest over his 22nd ranked opponent from Argentina.

Cerundolo raced through the first set but Shelton raised his game and tied the sets on his fourth attempt in a dramatic tie-break. The players traded breaks early in the decider before Shelton eventually triumphed by breaking Cerundolo for the match.

Australian Open semi-finalist Shelton will be bidding for a third career title on Sunday when he faces either top seeded twice Munich champion Alexander Zverev or Fabian Maroszan.
