Shane Steichen reveals Week 16 game status for Colts' CB Sauce Gardner

The Indianapolis Colts have ruled out cornerback Sauce Gardner for the team's Week 16 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.

Gardner suffered a calf injury in the Colts' Week 13 game against Houston. This will be the third game he's missed. He has not yet returned to practice.

So will Gardner play again this season?

"Yes," said head coach Shane Steichen on Saturday.

In Gardner's first two games with the Colts, he has allowed five receptions on 10 targets for 38 yards with two pass breakups. He's also made 12 tackles.

Without Gardner and Charvarius Ward in Seattle, Mekhi Blackmon and Johnathan Edwards led the defense in defensive snaps at the outside cornerback positions.

Along with Gardner being ruled out, so has wide receiver and return man Anthony Gould with a foot injury. Gould did not play against Seattle.

Defensive Tackle DeForest Buckner will make his return. He's been on injured reserve since Week 9.
