Shams: Suns trade for Miles Bridges

Bridges averaged 19ppg and 7rpg the last three seasons. Even those numbers would make him the best PF the suns have had since Amare, (15 years). Amare's career stats are 19ppg and 8rpg.

Bridges needed a change of scenery, he is motivated, has something to prove and is playing for a new contract.

High usage numbers on bad teams for context. I need to see him fit it on this squad before I’m a believer.

those two working well together and the disappointment that is charlotte are two different things - you keep trying to blame individuals for what was really a variety of reasons - is every player on every bad team a bad player because of it - no - can players work well together on bad teams - yes

His stats may be similar, but he's not half the player Amare was.

Agree, I would not compare the two. Amare is one of my all-time favorites. Amare was a dominant momentum changer.

The gap between Amare and all the PF's who have followed is pretty wide. My point; if Bridges averages 17ppg and 7rpg, he'd be a couple/few steps behind Amare but would be vastly better than any of our PF's since.

Look no further than Booker. He is the definition of high usage numbers on bad teams, and there were many. His first five years, the team was trash.

Booker is not a superstar by any stretch, but he is an excellent SG on good teams and bad.

we have screwdrivers and tape measures up the ying yang and we got two hammers now - three if you count oso but we had no heavy duty adjustable wrenches

we can drive - shoot from distance - and dunk it but we had no way to just wrench it in there - barkley was the best wrench i ever seen

hammers and wrenches work together - if the wrench gets stuck you hit it with the hammer

I sure hope so, that list shows just how bad our PF's have been. It's been 10-12 years since Fry or Morris played for the suns.

Crowder and Saric played here, 2021 and 2022 and neither averaged more than 10ppg.

Manning

I'm sure I'm missing someone, or at least I hope I am, that's a pathetic list for 3 1/2 decades

Diaw had a nice run in 2006ish, if you count him as a PF. But yeah it’s been rough since Amare.

Obviously I do too but here's the thing, it's not because I think he's too good for the G League. I believe we are as in-bed with Klutch Sports as an organization can be and we aren't going to risk that relationship by doing something that could be perceived as sabotaging Koa Peat's future. He might spend a few days there but I can't see him spending most of his time there - like our raw rookies did last season.

I think he'll spend a nice chunk there. If he doesn't earn minutes early then we'll probably send him down for a month or two and then bring him back before the trade deadline.

Offensively, I think he's well ahead of Fleming. Fleming can shoot outside if left wide open, but Peat can make his own chances on the interior and pass.

Among the many reasons I wish we hadn't gotten Bridges is that he's going to block one of Koa or Fleming from developing. I don't think Bridges has any upside at this stage of his career.

It's way to early to evaluate Peat as an NBA player, but he strikes me as one of those players Cotton used to love, a high IQ dirt worker who will do anything to stay on the court.

In his young career, he has been a flat out winner.

As he should be. Bridges is in his prime.
