The wait is officially over, Houston fans. As the Texas heat rolls in, so does the most anticipated stretch of the NFL calendar. This Saturday, August 1st, marks the Houston Texans' official "Back Together Saturday" practice at the Houston Methodist Training Center. The gates will open, the bleachers will fill, and the energy in H-Town will be electric as fans get their first real look at the squad fully padded and getting to work.
Every training camp carries a unique storyline, but this summer feels different. We aren't just looking at a young team finding its footing anymore, we’re looking at a standard. With a loaded veteran core and a shiny new draft class stepping onto the grass, the real question is simple: When you settle into your seat this Saturday, who are you locking your eyes on?
For most fans, the first stop on the field is the obvious #7, C.J. Stroud. Heading into another pivotal campaign, Stroud continues to be the unquestioned engine of this franchise. - Keylan Rutledge (OL, Georgia Tech - 1st Round, No. 26 Overall): The Texans traded up in the first round to secure Rutledge, and all eyes will be on how the powerful guard handles live reps against Houston’s formidable interior defensive line. Protecting Stroud is Job 1, and Rutledge was brought in to bring nastiness to the front five.
- Kayden McDonald (DT, Ohio State - 2nd Round, No. 36 Overall): A 330-pound run-plugger with championship pedigree, McDonald brings absolute muscle to the interior front. Watching him go head-to-head against the veteran offensive guards in full-contact drills will be must-watch action.
