Sergei Bobrovsky's free agent cost to Maple Leafs revealed originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Sergei Bobrovsky is only a year removed from winning back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Florida Panthers.
Now, the veteran goalie is a free agent, and the Toronto Maple Leafs appear to have a strong chance to sign him.
Some early rumors suggested he'd be quite pricy, but the latest report from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman is more affordable.
"Heard Edmonton had interest, but I’ve honed in on Toronto," Friedman wrote early Wednesday morning. "Believe his last ask of Florida was three years, $21 million. So I’d expect the overall dollars to come in around there."

A $7 million annual deal for Bobrovsky is affordable for Toronto and reasonable for what they'd expect to get out of their new starting goalie.
Bobrovsky will turn 38 in September, so it makes sense that the deal wouldn't be longer than three years.
He's won two Vezina Trophies in his career, and he has 456 career wins in goal in the NHL.
Bobrovsky's career marks of a 2.61 goals against average and 91.2 save percentage are much better than he had in 2025-26 (3.07, 87.7%).
The reality is the Leafs will be hoping Bobrovsky has at least some bounce back in him, because otherwise he's not quite worth the cost.
Toronto still has Anthony Stolarz and Dennis Hildeby, but their pursuit of Bobrovsky is a loud and clear signal about what they think about that depth chart.
The deal isn't done, but it seems like it could happen as soon as Wednesday when free agency opens at 12 noon ET.
