The Ottawa Senators may be looking to add a goalie this offseason.

The Buffalo Sabres, on the other hand, may have one too many netminders -- a group that includes Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Alex Lyon, Colten Ellis and Devon Levi.

It's Levi who might wind up with the Senators.

ESPN's Kevin Weekes has reported that Ottawa is one of multiple teams that is considering pursuing a trade for Levi.

MORE: Sabres' story of this season is about all the chapters along the way

Levi spent the entire 2025-26 season down at AHL Rochester, where he had a 2.83 goals against average and a 90.4 save percentage. Both of those declined from what he did in the AHL in 2024-25.

At the NHL level, Levi has played 39 career goals, but from a player who was once viewed as a more promising prospect, he hasn't blossomed into his perceived potential.

Levi remains just 24 years old. There's plenty of time left for him to play goalie at a high level, if a team can unlock his full talent.

Maybe that'll be in Ottawa. There were already reports that the Sabres and Levi are "over," so a trade pursuit wouldn't be shocking.

Most of the suspense for Buffalo would simply be what they get in return. Levi's days in Western New York seem to be numbered.
