Davis Martin continued a spectacular year with another quality start.

Martin, a former Central High School right-handed pitcher, struck out seven and allowed five hits and one earned run leading the Chicago White Sox to an 8-3 win Saturday over the Chicago Cubs at Rate Field in Chicago.

In total, Martin threw 91 pitches, with 62 being strikes, en route to improving to 6-1 on the season. The 29-year-old hurler also became the first White Sox pitcher to win six of his first nine starts of a season since Lance Lynn achieved the feat back in 2021. He has a 1.61 ERA this season.

Last season, Martin was 7-10 with a 4.10 ERA in 25 starts and one relief appearance. The right-handed hurler was selected in the 14th round of the 2018 MLB amateur draft out of Texas Tech.
