Vanderbilt baseball's temporary seating capacity at Hawkins Field for the 2026 season will be 3,442, according to a school spokesperson.

This is down 258 seats from its previous capacity of 3,700 fans.

The temporarily reduced capacity is due to construction in right field that caused the demolition of seats in that area. When the construction is complete, a new building in right field will contain premium seating areas as well as a new pitching lab.

The Commodores' home opener is against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 17 (4:30 p.m. CT, SEC Network+).

They will start the 2026 season in Arlington, Texas, in the Shriner's Children's College Showdown at Globe Life Field against TCU on Feb. 13.

As part of the renovations, the right field fence was also moved in but raised. The new dimensions are 320 feet in right field and 360 feet in right-center.

Does reduced Hawkins Field capacity prevent Vanderbilt baseball from hosting a regional?

No, the reduction in capacity does not prevent Vanderbilt from hosting a regional or super regional.

Several teams with smaller ballparks than the Commodores' new capacity have hosted in recent years, including Maryland (2,500) and Duke (2,000).
