Mississippi State baseball is hosting an NCAA Tournament regional in one of the most unique atmospheres in the sport.

Dudy Noble Field consistently ranks at or near the top in college baseball for attendance. The outfield has a unique experience with grills cooking food all game long.

The Starkville Regional begins with the No. 14 national seed Bulldogs (40-17) facing No. 4 regional seed Lipscomb (29-24) on May 29 (1 p.m., ESPN+). A second game will follow between No. 2 Cincinnati (37-20) and No. 3 Louisiana (39-23) at 6 p.m. (ESPN+).

Here's what to know about Dudy Noble Field, which is hosting its first regional since 2021.

Who is Dudy Noble?

Dudy Noble Field opened in 1967 and is named after former Mississippi State coach and athletics director Randolph "Dudy" Noble. The full name of the stadium is Dudy Noble Field, Polk-Dement Stadium.

The stadium has been renovated several times, most recently in 2019.

The outfield rigs are known as The Left Field Lounge. That's where fans are allowed to grill food throughout the game in a tailgate-like atmosphere. Fans are allowed to bring their own coolers into the stadium with drinks as long as they don't exceed certain sizes. The student section is also located in right field.
