LEXINGTON, Va. (WJHL) – The ETSU Buccaneers pulled away in the second half Saturday afternoon, beating the VMI Keydets 87-70 at Cameron Hall for their third straight win.
ETSU led most of the afternoon and used a sharp shooting stretch after halftime to create separation. The Buccaneers shot better than 65% in the second half, turning a seven-point halftime lead into a comfortable road victory.
Blake Barkley led ETSU with 22 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, recording his fifth double-double of the season. Cam Morris III finished with 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Jordan McCullum added 14 points, four assists and three rebounds. Maki Johnson chipped in 15 points, knocking down five 3-pointers.
The Buccaneers controlled the glass with a 40-24 rebounding edge and scored consistently in the paint while limiting VMI’s second-chance opportunities. ETSU also connected on 11 shots from beyond the arc for their highest total since early December.
With the win, ETSU improved to 18-7 overall and 10-2 in Southern Conference play. The Buccaneers return home Wednesday to host Chattanooga at Freedom Hall. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
