The Seattle Seahawks will play the biggest contest of their 2025 campaign versus the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football in Week 16. The NFC West division lead and inside track on the conference's No. 1 seed (with a first-round bye and homefield advantage) remains attainable for the Seahawks with a victory.
The Seahawks will require a better offensive performance than the one they put forth in a 21-19 Week 11 defeat to these pesky Rams. We've identified three potential X-factors on the Seahawks' offense.
Sam Darnold completed 29-of-44 passing attempts for 279 yards, zero touchdowns, and four interceptions against the Rams in Week 11. The Seahawks' starting quarterback failed to rise to the occasion, a trait that has occasionally followed him in big games throughout his career. Darnold possesses an opportunity for a do-over versus the Rams on Thursday.
Starting left tackle Charles Cross will miss Thursday's game with a hamstring injury. It represents a massive blow to the Seahawks' offensive line. Veteran swing tackle Josh Jones will start in Cross' place. Jones will be tasked with slowing down pass rushers Byron Young and Jared Verse.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba registered nine receptions for 105 receiving yards versus the Rams in Week 11. Klint Kubiak's offense will need a repeat performance from its high-volume pass catcher. Smith-Njigba needs to be a difference maker for Darnold against a stout Rams defense.
