The Seattle Seahawks placed three players- safety Nick Emmanwori, running back Kenny McIntosh, and cornerback Tyrone Broden- on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list ahead of the start of training camp on Friday.

The big surprise here is Emmanwori. Both McIntosh and Broden missed significant time with injuries last year and may still have lingering issues, but Emmanwori was expected to be healthy from the jump. He did have recurring right ankle issues last season that might have been the only thing separating him from an All-Pro nod as a rookie. On his first career NFL tackle, he sprained his high ankle and was held out for three weeks, and while practicing for Super Bowl LX, he suffered a low ankle sprain but barely came back to play in the game. I wrote about how him halving the usual recovery timelines for these injuries resembled the regeneration of a super soldier, but I didn’t yet consider the long-term ramifications. If this turns out to be a right ankle issue, the team would be wise to hold him out for at least the entire preseason.
McIntosh and Broden failing to be cleared during their opening physicals of camp begs the question of when they might be back. The Seahawks clearly believe in both as investments to keep around, but neither managed to see the field in 2025. With McIntosh seeing more opening than ever in the backfield, he could push for carries or a pass-blocking role in preseason. Broden’s move to the defensive side of the ball will likely take time to realize the fruits of, but the athleticism’s all there to be developed.
The Seahawks also placed nose tackle Deven Eastern on the PUP list this morning.
