The Seattle Seahawksbegan OTAs earlier this week. They're scheduled to hold six (with a maximum of 10) voluntary practices before holding a three-day mandatory minicamp from June 9-11. With no live contact permitted at OTAs, it can become increasingly difficult to prepare for the physical demands of a 17-game NFL season.
Training camp and the preseason represent the best opportunities to simulate real regular-season football. Even then, the latest Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) limits offseason contact more than ever before. For that, many teams prefer to hold joint practices before preseason games.
Macdonald recently told reporters the Tennessee Titans are their best opportunity to have a joint practice in 2026. The Seahawks' second preseason game is against the Titans in Nashville on August 23. They'll encounter a familiar opponent and coach.
The Seahawks played in Tennessee last season, defeating the Titans 30-24 in Nashville. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward played admirably against a fierce Seahawks defense. Ward is now entering his sophomore season with plenty of promise.
The Titans hired Robert Saleh as their new head coach this offseason. The Seahawks and Saleh squared off three times last season as he was the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator for the second time in his coaching career. The Seahawks won the series 2-1, including a 41-6 drubbing over the 49ers in the postseason's divisional round.

Macdonald said that if the Seahawks do joint practices, Tennessee is the only option. They're trying to finalize that. Their second preseason game is in Nashville on 8/23.
Seattle has done joint practices in each of Macdonald's first two seasons, including in Nashville in '24.
