Will Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon unseat Los Angeles Rams CB Trent McDuffie as the market-setter at the position in 2026?
According to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, Witherspoon is one of the select few players that has the potential to reset the market by signing the most lucrative contract at their respective positions before the conclusion of next season.
Witherspoon was named a second-team All-Pro honoree in 2025. The Florida native is one of the best players at the position, and given his age and level of acclaim, will likely be the benefactor of good timing in the market coinciding with his next contract on the horizon.
McDuffie signed a record four-year, $124 million extension with the Rams in free agency after being traded to Los Angeles from the Kansas City Chiefs last winter. The deal made him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.
As the defending Super Bowl champion, however, Witherspoon will have many calling cards to use at the negotiating table to garner a deal that usurps the one McDuffie received.
