Tyler Lockett was a great player for the Seattle Seahawks.

But he's now part of the Mattingly list, named after New York Yankees legend Don Mattingly.

It's not an official list, but it's very real.

The Yankees won the World Series right before Mattingly arrived. They won it right after he left. But he never got a ring.

Lockett has the same story in Seattle.

The Seahawks won the Super Bowl right before he was drafted. And now they won it the season after he left.

Tyler Lockett becomes an unfortunate addition to the Mattingly List.

Drafted in 2015 after two consecutive Seahawks Super Bowl appearances.

Plays his final season with the team in 2024... right before their next.

It's not Lockett's fault, of course. He was a standout slot receiver for Seattle throughout his career.

Lockett made easy catches, tough catches, short catches, long catches, touchdown catches.

He just didn't make any catches to win a Super Bowl.

Seattle fans will likely remember Lockett fondly for a long time. They might even mistakenly remember him as a guy who was on at least one of the Super Bowl teams.

But Lockett will know. He just missed out on both rings. It's just bad luck.
