SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — For the Savannah State men’s basketball team, there is no place like home. The Tigers continue to excel at Tiger Arena.
So far this season, Savannah State has 12 wins overall. Ten of those have come on their home floor. This includes their last outing, a 69-60 victory over Spring Hill.
On the road, the story is different. Savannah State is just 2-8.
The Tigers have five games left in the regular season, including on Saturday. Then, they have three games on the road.
The last of which is against Tuskegee, who is currently the top seed in the West Division.
I feel like just playing more and more together or just being around each other off the court, getting to know each other’s tendencies or personalities,” said Savannah native and junior guard Zyere Edwards. “Then when we come on to the court and being able to mesh those together, we just to be able to get the best that we can, not everybody.
“I like how things are going so far. I feel like the team is now starting to gel a little bit more. Earlier in the season, it was more of a new team getting put together, so we just had to figure each other out a little bit. And I feel like recently with me starting to get a lot more. So going into the conference, I feel like we’re going to be clicking on all cylinders.”
Savannah State faces Edward Waters on Saturday, which will also serve as Senior Night.
