TRI-CITIES, Tenn. (WJHL) – Saturday evening delivered holiday tournament action, with semifinal victories setting up championship matchups and one team bringing home the hardware.
At the Betsy Bash semifinals inside Elizabethton High School, Unicoi County’s boys’ basketball team earned a spot in the championship with a 61–51 win over West Ridge. In the nightcap, Woodberry Forest continued its strong tournament run, defeating host Elizabethton 77–69. The championship matchup is now set, with the Woodberry Forest Tigers facing the Unicoi County Blue Devils in the title game Sunday at 8 p.m.
Championship hardware was handed out at the 29th Annual Doc Maples Holiday Hoops Tournament, where the Tennessee High Lady Vikings captured the tournament title with a 64–56 win over the Morristown East Hurricanes. The victory capped off an impressive tournament run for the Lady Vikings and crowned them Doc Maples tournament champions.
