TRI-CITIES (WJHL) – High school basketball took center stage Saturday night as multiple holiday classics brought elite competition to gyms across the region.

At The Classic at Tennessee High, several teams faced tough national competition. The Unicoi County Blue Devils fell to Mount Carmel 75–37, while the Elizabethton Cyclones were challenged by St. Thomas Aquinas, falling to the Raiders 94–45. Host Tennessee High Vikings also faced a difficult matchup, falling to Bishop O’Connell 93–29.

Drama unfolded at the Arby’s Classic, where the Gate City Blue Devils edged John Marshall 50–49. A clutch free throw in the final seconds of the game by Zayne Reed sealed the win. Parker Jenkins was named Player of the Game after posting 15 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

In another Arby’s Classic matchup, Tri-Cities Christian defeated Wesley Christian 70–56. Aaron Pomrenke earned Player of the Game honors with 16 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

Girls’ basketball shined at the Andrew Johnson Bank Classic, starting with the Tennessee High Lady Vikings earning a thrilling 69–67 win over Cherokee. Addie Wilhoit led the way and was named Player of the Game with 26 points, along with two rebounds and three assists.

The Daniel Boone Lady Blazers continued their strong play, defeating JL Mann 85–63. Andrea Flores earned Player of the Game honors after recording 26 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.

The night wrapped up with the Knox Webb Lady Spartans holding off Cocke County girls basketball 55–49. Meeyah Green was named Player of the Game, finishing with 15 points, three rebounds, and four assists.
