Even after the Boston Celtics acquired veteran big man Nikola Vucevic in a deadline deal with the Chicago Bulls, Neemias Queta still has an important role in the paint for the team. Inserted into the starting lineup after the offseason departures of both Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford, Queta has asserted himself as a valuable piece to the Celtics rotation and his teammates are taking notice.

When Jaylen Brown missed Tuesday's night victory over the Phoenix Suns, Queta stepped up to contribute 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 blocks in the 97-81 win. On the season, Queta is averaging 9.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks across 25 minutes per game, and his teammates are taking notice of not just his breakout year, but his growth during that breakout as well.

“As the season has gone on, he’s gotten better and better.”

"He's been great for us," Hauser told reporters after Tuesday's win. "Obviously as the season has gone on, he's gotten better and better. Shot blocking, play-making, passing, rebounding and holding it down in the lane for us, it's been awesome."

Neemias Queta may not have been a name that jumps off the paper for opposing teams, but he's built himself into a formidable force in the paint and even with Vucevic on the roster now, the Portugal center is earning his keep.
