There was some late speculation about the New Orleans Saints trading out of the ninth pick in the 2025 NFL draft, but either they couldn't get any buyers or there just wasn't much to those rumors. The Saints stayed put at No. 9 and selected Texas Longhorns left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr.
It's an on-brand choice for former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who saw firsthand just how much easier things can be behind a dominant offensive line. Whether Banks displaces a starter at the tackle spots or steps into a new role at left guard, the Saints will be able to configure their line to field their five best linemen every Sunday.
The Saints also declined their fifth-year option on right tackle Trevor Penning this week, so it's possible Banks could be the long-term starter there or at left tackle, which could push Taliese Fuaga back to his college position. In the short term, look for Banks to start at guard, where his exceptional movement skills and just-average length may put him at his best.
