Saints close to finalizing new contract with beloved 132-sack franchise legend originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New Orleans Saints have had a very solid offseason, adding a ton of talent around Tyler Shough on the offensive side of the ball as they aim for a breakout 2026 season.
But the defensive side of the ball could use some more help, especially along the defensive line. Fortunately, it appears some help is on the way.
According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the Saints are closing in on a new contract for free-agent franchise legend Cameron Jordan, as the meeting between the two sides has gone well.
Saints closing in on new contract for Cameron Jordan for 2026 season
"The Saints and Cam Jordan are continuing to have positive discussions this morning and are working to finalize a contract that would bring the pass rusher back to New Orleans, per source," Underhill reports.
This is some very welcome news for the Saints and their fanbase, as getting Jordan back for another year will be huge for this defensive line.
Jordan, who's having a Hall-of-Fame caliber career, might be coming back to New Orleans for a 16th-straight season.
Across his 15 years in the NFL, all have been with the Saints. He's made eight Pro Bowls, earned three All-Pro nods, one being a First-Team All-Pro back in 2017.

In his long NFL career, Jordan has put up 132 sacks, including 10.5 last year at 36 years old. Now set to be 37 in 2026, Jordan will try to put the cherry on top of a Hall of Fame career, all with the Saints.
That is, assuming this new contract between the Saints and Jordan actually gets finalized, as Underhill is reporting the deal is close to being complete.
Jordan's return would be incredible for the Saints, and it appears as if his return is more than just a possibility; it's close to being finalized.
