Beck Malenstyn got his holiday week off to a great start.
After being a part of the first Buffalo Sabres playoff team in 15 years, Malenstyn has secured a long-term contract extension on Monday that will keep him around for a while.
The deal is for six years, according to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun, at $2.9167 million per year.
That works out to just under $18 million in total value.

Malenstyn is a physical, 6-foot-3, 209-pound left winger who held down a spot on Buffalo's fourth line and seems likely to retain that role going forward.
The 28-year old had played parts of four seasons in Washington with the Capitals before joining the Sabres for the 2024-25 season.
He played 76 games in that first season with Buffalo, then 81 in 2025-26, proving himself a reliable piece of the puzzle.
This past season, Malenstyn had seven points and seven assists for 14 points in 81 games. He also dished out 282 hits, a career high, while blocking 75 shots.
Malenstyn is unlikely to ever been a big-minute player, but he knows his role and plays it well.
The Sabres have plenty of young forwards pushing for spots on the scoring lines.
They know, though, that Malenstyn will be a key piece going forward whenever they want physicality and experience on the ice.
