MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) — Few players have meant more to the Milwaukee Brewers organization than former National League Rookie of the Year and MVP Ryan Braun.
Earlier this month, Braun was inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame, and before the ceremony, Local 5 Sports caught up with the Brewers legend to reflect on what made playing in Milwaukee so special, his favorite moments from his 14-year career, and why he believes the 2026 Brewers have what it takes to make another deep postseason run.

FOWLER: Congratulations on the honor. How special is this for you?
BRAUN: It’s special. Milwaukee changed my life. I’m from California, not Wisconsin, but this community embraced me from day one.
FOWLER: We’re here celebrating your achievements in baseball and in sports. What does it mean to celebrate this with so many former teammates and friends?
BRAUN: It’s awesome to celebrate with our teammates and just all the friends that I can remember.
FOWLER: When you look back, what’s the memory that stands out the most?
BRAUN: In 2008, making the playoffs and everything we accomplished as a group. I think we all understood the significance of that.
FOWLER: Have you been watching this year’s Brewers team?
BRAUN: Yeah. I’ve been watching. I’m just trying to watch and enjoy it. As long as they’re playing well, it’s exciting to see.
FOWLER: Looking ahead, what do you think this team is capable of?
BRAUN: I think as long as they continue doing what they’re doing, they have a lot of talent.
FOWLER: Coming back for a ceremony like this, how special is it to look back on your career?
BRAUN: I get to come back, celebrate, think about all the All-Stars, my teammates and so many people that were part of the journey. I’m grateful for all of it.
