EUGENE, Ore. — At the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Joash Ruto led the Iowa State Cyclones by earning First Team All-America honors in the 3,000m steeplechase. After qualifying for the final with a semifinal time of 8:25.58, the sophomore improved his time to 8:25.14 to finish in sixth place. This performance secured Ruto’s fourth career All-America honor, split equally between cross country and track and field.
Robin Kwemoi Bera also had a successful championship, securing Second Team All-America honors in both the 5,000m and the 10,000m. In the 5,000m final, Bera maneuvered through the pack in the final two laps to finish 10th with a time of 13:51.83. By the end of his sophomore season, Bera had accumulated six career All-America honors, including four in track.
Additionally, freshman Jailan Sohna earned Honorable Mention All-America honors after finishing 24th in the 800m semifinals.
As a team, the Iowa State men finished in 51st place with three points.
