Note this is just a rumor I heard...

WFAN is reporting that the Jets are taling about trading Curtis Martin to the Coyboys for their #1 this year.

I dont knwo if this is a valid rumor but a friend of mine says people are talking about it on a Miami Hurricanes messageboard also..

This could be huge if true. Jets would likley take Andre Johnson is he is there.

Also another rumor out of Cleveland.... usualy are not true but this one seems liek it could happen...

I forget the station... They reported the Browns and Jets are talking about a trade... Kevin Johnson for the Jets 2nd rounder...

there is no way that happens... Martin is the greatest RB in NFL history, (per John Gambo) :)

But realistically I dont think it will happen he is a good rb...

The Jets would be brain dead

Martin has quietly moved up the ranks on his way to being one of the greatest backs of all time and is a hugh factor in the Jet offense. An uproven number one is no way worth Martin. A number 1 and a number 4 and a number 2 next year... well, they better get more than one pick. Martin is twice the back H. Walker was and the Cowboys made a killing dealing him to the Vikings way back. I would personally take Jerry Jones for a ride and in the end tell him NO!

I think it makes sense for both the Jets and the Cowboys. The Jets have a very good RB in L. Jordan and Martin will probably show signs of wear after this season. A top 5 draft pick would be huge for the Jets because they won't have to try to fill the hole left by Martin--they already have his replacement.

Plus, Parcells has traded for Martin before, right? That's how he ended up in NY. (At least, I think it was a trade rather than FA that brought him there).

I think the Jets would score huge on that trade. They're really not trading trading Martin for a #6, they're trading Martin for LaMont Jordan (230 lbs with speed) and getting a #6 out of the deal.

Of course, who do they have behind L Jordan???? I just have a hard time thinking they would do that.... especially with the way injuries happen to Rb's..... You don't want to lose your quality depth if you can help it

I don't get it if they let Coles go can't they pick a WR with that pick?

I like LaMont Jordan a lot I suspect they'd be ok with him as their feature back but I wonder what they want to pick with the choice from the Cowboys, Suggs would seem to be overkill on their defense if he's there and they don't appear to need a QB.

Didn't he say Dallas's #1, the 5th choice in the first round? That would be great IMO opinion for a 30 plus RB with alot of mileage on him.

Didn't Martin sign a hellacious contract just a year or two ago? I think the cap hit of his accelerated bonus would wipe out any sort of trade. That's usually how it is with these offseason trade rumors.

Martin's massive signing bonus acceleration makes him untradeable. This is bunk.

Martin signed an 8 year 46 mil extension just this past August, of which 10mil was signing bonus. Plus, he still had about 4mil of bonus from before. They'd have to cut half the team to trade him.

Hooray, 12 posts into the thread and finally someone utilizes common sense.

The Jets would have to absorb a cap hit in excess of $15 million to trade Martin.

Right.

The only Rumor I see truth in could be the Kevin Johnson trade.. Only giving a #2 for him is fair.. Pretty good possesion rec for Pennington to work with. Plus the Browns dont really need him if Northcutt plays the way he did last year. Stupid Cleveland.. I want him back in Arizona! This time in Tempe.
