In the Game 3 matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves, things got awfully chippy and physical.

With the Lakers looking to even up the series at two apiece before it returns to Los Angeles, superstars LeBron James and Luka Doncic have taken their play to another level, Sunday afternoon.

While James was on the receiving end of some backlash in the first half for a play involving he and Anthony Edwards, he became the victim in the third quarter. As Edwards was shooting free throws with 31.8 seconds left in the third quarter, James went to box out four-time Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert.

While James' boxout may have had something extra on it to make sure the seven-footer couldn't get to the ball, it clearly frustrated Gobert. In response to James' boxout, Gobert ended up shoving his forearm into the back of the neck/head of James.

A play that led to many fans on social media calling out Gobert for being a dirty player.

"Unnecessary AND excessive," wrote one user.

"Rudy Gobert elbows LeBron in the back of the head Dirty. Disrespectful. Disgusting," added a second.

"Rudy Gobert has no skill, hes just a dirty player," commented a third.

"Rudy Gobert is such a dirty player for that," added another.

"Rudy Gobert being dirty? What else is new," questioned one fan.

James was clearly frustrated following the hit, shouting at Gobert and having to be held back. While it may not have eliminated the pain, Gobert was assessed a flagrant foul and Minnesota head coach Chris Finch was given a technical for arguing with the call.

With a win, the Lakers will even the series before Game 5, which will be played in Los Angeles. They can also take some of the wind out of the Timberwolves' sails as they have seemed to be growing increasingly confident throughout.
