Royals' Salvador Perez made one of the worst catcher throws ever originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez may get inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame someday.
If he is, they probably won't show this throw on the highlight reel.
On Friday night, Perez leaped out of his crouch to try and catch a runner stealing.
He instead threw the baseball way over the head of everyone in the infield and well into centerfield.
The camera had a tough time even following the ball on the initial angle:

It was surely a hot and humid night in Texas, and that baseball probably just slipped right out of Salvy's right hand.
There wasn't a whole lot of suspense. As soon as he released it, it was clear the ball was going to fly beyond any possible infielder who could've snagged it.
Perez was known for much of his career as having a strong arm. He's tall for a catcher, which made certain aspects of receiving and framing difficult, but his natural physical strength certainly helped him as a thrower.
Even now, Salvy is still a reliable catcher for Kansas City.
This throw was just a blip on the radar, albeit a very noticeable one.
