Gates Chili 63, Brighton 60

Gates Chili got the victory thanks to a last-second game-sealing block from sophomore Nehemiah Pye.

This game was tight throughout, as Brighton led by only two points at halftime. With just under five minutes left in the game, the Bruins were ahead 55-51. A Tremier Lewis three-pointer cut the deficit to just one before foul shots helped Gates-Chili take the lead.

After both sides exchanged a few baskets, the Spartans led 53-50 with ten seconds left. Brighton brought the ball up the court with a chance to get one final shot. On the Bruins three point attempt, Pye reached out and caught a piece of the shot to deflect it into the backcourt and secure the game for Gates Chili.

Pye showed up for more than just the final play, however, as he finished with a game-high 22 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter. Giuseppe Vigerzi and Lewis added 16 each.

For the Bruins, Jah Joseph led the way with 16 points and six rebounds.
